RAM- Rete Autostrade Mediterranee S.p.a, whose capital is held entirely by the Ministry of Economy and Finance, works, as an in house company of the Ministry of Infrastructures and Transport in order to plan and coordinate measures implemented for the National Programme for the development of the “Motorways of the Sea”. With its corporate structure, characterized by specialized skills and strong streamlined operations, the objective of RAM is to foster an efficient maritime transport network as an alternative to road transport, thus resulting in a significant reduction of traffic congestion on the road network, which is close to saturation, an abatement of harmful emissions produced by heavy goods traffic, and a reduction in energy consumption and therefore of the cost of logistics.
